Obituary for Amy Jo Williams
"Those we have held in our arms for a little while, we hold in our hearts forever."

Words can't describe how empty our hearts feel now that Amy Jo Williams, 26, of Owego, was called to her Heavenly home early Sunday morning, January 2, 2022. At the age of 5, Amy was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Although she faced many challenges in her life, she kept her smile and her love for her family. Through all of the years of hardships Amy faced with the inability to walk, see, or hear; one thing was always kept constant… her family was always nearby.

Amy was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt and friend. She was and always will be, such a beautiful soul. She lived her life to the fullest and no matter what her medical diagnosis was, she always made heartwarming memories with the ones she loved most. The doctors never thought she would make it past the age of 18 but she fought hard every day and was never afraid to live.

Amy was always so smart, so smart that in fact she began making pot holders at such a young age. She enjoyed spending time baking with her family and treasured the most recent trip she took to Florida to celebrate her birthday. Even though her vision was fading and sadly, would soon be gone completely, she still made the best of it and made a special memory there with her Mom, watching the dolphins swim in the ocean.

Amy is survived and will always be missed by her mother and caregiver Carol Williams, her father and his companion Edward Williams and Arline Swingle, her sisters, Dustie (Michael) Shipman, Ashley, Cindy and Sandy Williams, her Grandparents, Sally and Fred Williams, Edward J. and Charlotte Williams, her great-grandfather, Lawrence Turner, her aunts and uncles, Marjorie Holmes, Ellie (Jim) Meyers, Angie (Rick) Rogers, Robin (Jim) Roberts, Karen Zetche, Gwendera Egyed, Fred Williams, great aunts and great uncles: Barb Dixon, Mary Thompson, John Williams, Frank Williams; her nieces and nephews, Lilly Jo, Dustin Jr, Holly, Tobias, Leland, Emily, Vivian, Betty, Marcus, and Genevieve. Many second cousins among them Frankie Williams.

A gathering remembering the special gift Amy was to all of us will be held on Sunday, April 10th at 1 pm at the Owego Moose (should the inclement weather we will gather on April 24th. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
