Rick Gerard Bertrand, Sr., 64, of Huntsville; died Monday, May 31, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alma. He was born Thursday, August 16, 1956, at Port Arthur, Texas.

Rick married Mary Katherine Sneed on Wednesday, February 21, 1979 at Mesa, Arizona; and together they were parents to five children. He was a Plant Manager for Butterball; and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rick was a grandfather, father, husband, brother, son, friend, leader, counselor, steward, teacher, and man of God; who returned to live with his Eternal Father in Heaven! Rick worked hard at everything he did, he never stopped, not till the job was done! He was a great father, and a great teacher, he always said "the harder you work at it, the easier it is, the easier you work at it the harder it is." He lived by those words. He lived by his faith, believing that his faith should play into everything he did, and shouldn't have to be spoken, (he felt that way about a lot of things) that it should be from his example that those around him saw and knew the Light of Christ. He is missed and will always be until the day we are reunited with him through the atonement of Christ our Lord!

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Simoneaux Lake, and one brother -in-law, Cecil Hardin. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; his children, Ben Bertrand, Eric Bertrand, Oliver Bertrand, Adam Bertrand and Elizabeth Batemon; and three daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, Rachel Bertrand, Ashley Bertrand, Amanda Bertrand, and Jared Batemon; his father, Ernest Lake of Beaumont, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, Austin, Matthew, David, Eastin, Alivia, Ben, Katie, Kodi, Eliza, Junior, Rebekka, Joseph, James, Johnathan, Aurelie, and Arthur; his siblings, Sharon and Michael Kasper, Cathy Hardin, Debbie Bertrand, Jeffrey and Sara Lake, and Christina and Charles Bergeon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Friday, June 4, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Huntsville. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 5, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Huntsville. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
