Donald Ray Gross, 63, of Freeport, passed away, Friday December 31, 2021. Donald was born August 22, 1958, in Freeport, the son of Robert Stanley and Mabel Nora (Campbell) Gross. Donald proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1976-1982. He served aboard the USS Truxtun (San Diego, California). Donnie enjoyed singing in church and also Karoke on Friday nights. After working various jobs, he found his most enjoyment as "Dr. Don", a self-employed appliances repairman. Donnie was always happy to help a friend in need and enjoyed watching Looney Tunes and Jeopardy. Heaven has welcomed another beautiful voice to their choir and Donnie is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus and his parents.
Surviving is his brother, Lonnie (Bonnie) Gross of Mission, TX.; sisters, Wendy (James) Heiler of McConnell and Cindy Meyers of Belvidere. Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gross; mother, Mabel Louthain; and stepfather, Richard Louthain.
Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday January 6, 2022, at Cedarville Emmanuel Church. Pastor Craig Connor will officiate. Visitation 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Please sign Donald's guestbook and share a remembrance at www.burketubbs.com
