He was born on April 24, 1950, in New York, a son of the late Wilton Francis and Rose Marie (Robertazzi) Jones.
Stephen enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge on September 28, 1972 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He was a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. During his service he was a medic and known as "Doc" by his fellow airmen. He had the distinction of being a Purple Heart recipient.
He was employed as a Security System Technician.
Doc was an avid hunter, loving father, and dear friend.
He was a gentle man who was loved by all. His sisters said he always gave the best hugs.
Doc is survived by his fiancé: June Edsall of Whitney Point, New York; his daughter: Emma Tuttle and her husband Christopher of Richland Hills, Texas; his sons: Eric Jones and his wife Lindsey of Elysburg and Andrew Jones of Elysburg; his eight grandchildren; his sisters: Lynn Darby and her husband Larry of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, Judy Tattersall and her husband Ted of Calabash, North Carolina, and Francis Kistner and her husband Tom of East North Port, New York; his cousins; and, his nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 05, 2022 from 12:00 - 01:00 PM in James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch Street, Shamokin.
Interment services will be held on Thursday, January 06, 2022 at 02:00 PM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
