Born on June 9, 1929 in Amsterdam, NY he was the son on the late Pietro and Nancy Peters (Pietrandrea).
He was a graduate of Amsterdam High School in 1946.
After high school he worked for Mohawk Carpets as a weaver.
In 1950 he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War, serving honorably until 1952.
Upon returning home he joined the New York State Police Troop out of Herkimer. He later sold food for Quandts and Sysco foods.
Dick was very active in Youth CYO basketball, cub scouts, and the AHS football booster club. He spent 15 years working with his dear friend Sal Andolina as a ski instructor at Jim Blaise's Royal Mountain and later at Gore Mountain. He was an avid golfer and long time member of Amsterdam Muni, participating in the Monday Night Couples League, as well as the Amsterdam Travel Group.
He was a parishioner of St Mary's Church.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lorenzo, sisters, Dominica Schedulbauer and Virginia Carbone and son-in-law, Richard Bambara.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Susan, son Richard (Susan), daughter, Nancy Bambara, granddaughters, Megan and Andrea Bambara and Ellie Peters and one great granddaughter, Giuliana Manzer.
A private interment will be held at Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery
