Born in Boston and raised in Revere, she was the daughter of the late John and Nunzia "Nancy" (Carbone) Pierni. A resident of Saugus for the last 73 years, Mrs. Smith was formerly an administrative assistant with a mechanical engineering firm. She was an honorary member of the Melrose-Wakefield Auxiliary, volunteering 1,870 volunteer hours over 40 years at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Gift Shop. In addition, she was a volunteer at the Saugus Council on Aging.
She is survived by her two children; Michael Smith and his wife Debra of Rowley, Lisa Tricomi and her husband Bob of Peabody, five grandchildren; Jeremy Smith, Joel Smith & his wife Jennah, Jonathan Smith & his wife Natale, Erica Tricomi & her fiancé Richie Silva, Briana Tricomi & her fiancé Shawn Smith, great grandchildren; Clayton, Jacobbe, Madison, Jovian & Tyler. She was the sister of Helen Fontana of Saugus and Anthony "Sonny" Pierni of AZ.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend an hour of visitation in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS, on Wednesday 10 – 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
