Eric passed from this life April 14 at his home in Garland Texas. The firstborn son of Hal and Bettye Jeanne (Morehart) Nelson, Eric was born June 23, 1959 in Dallas Texas. His brother Karl was born Feb 8, 1963. Hal and Bettye moved to Garland where she would raise her two boys.Hal and Betty both attended UTA in Austin; Hal was an attorney working for the US Dept. of Labor and Bettye was a stay at home mother. When illness took Hal away, Bettye worked for Collins Radio, North Havens Gardens, and was the head of RAM publishing for Garrett Electronics before retirement.Eric's paternal Grandfather, Ivan Nelson (1903-1987) was Lt Commander, US Navy and worked for the Pentagon. His wife, Ella Marie (Westerback) Nelson (1906-2010) was a first generation American with family coming from Finland.His maternal Grandfather Raymond Anderson Morehart (1899-1989) played professional baseball with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on the World Series winning 1927 New York Yankees before having a career with Sun Oil in Dallas. His wife, Mary Elizabeth Palmer (1905-1992) raised two girls, Bettye and Mariana (1931-2015)Eric attended Edith Beaver Elementary, Jackson Jr. High and graduated North Garland High School in 1977. Eric was a good student with excellent math ability and a wonderful sense of humor. An animal lover, he was generous with his time and would help anyone (and strays) in need. Eric and family were members of the Presbyterian church in Garland.He received his Eagle Scout award in 1973.Eric moved back home to help his mother when she was ill. Bettye died October 19, 2016.Eric was a long time manager with the Kroger Company and was highly recognized for his in store display ability.He is proceeded in death by grandparents Ivan and Ella Nelson of Washington DC, Raymond and Mary Morehart of Dallas, Aunt Mariana and Uncle 'Tony' (Ernest Dewitt) Anthony, along with his parents and brother Karl.He is survived by cousins Russell Anthony of Bakersfield California and Clay Anthony of Casper Wyoming, along with other relatives and a host of friends.A special thank you to Audrey and Dusty Bigelow for their care and support during Eric's last days.His web page featured In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, 3430 Skyview Dr., Wylie TX (972) 442-6888 m.me/insyncexotics Visitation will be held on April 19, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
