VIETNAM
Born in Upper Darby Pennsylvania on February 09th 1945 to his father Joseph Thomas Wyatt and mother Margaret Mary Wyatt. Jim grew up just north in Havertown along with his two brothers and six sisters. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1963. Later attending St. Joseph's University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1970. In-between his time in college he was selected to serve as a radio operator in the US Army during the war in Vietnam.
Jim worked for 4 ½ years at General Mills before opening and managing two successful grocery stores in Terre Hill and Akron Pennsylvania. He was a generous contributor to his community. He added a game room for the town boasting a movie room, pool tables, ping pong, foosball, a volleyball court, and more.
In 1983 Jim moved to sunny San Diego, California. Working as a sales rep for Cox Communications for the next 11 years. Capping off each year as the company's top salesman. Then, after a major business restructuring, he went on to work for several other service providers before leaving the cable business.
In the early 2000's Jim entered into the advertising world, working for such publications as the Navy Dispatch, the Military Press, and the Navy Compass. There, he honed his writing and photography skills, as he was frequently requested to submit articles for the paper's sports sections. He worked alongside many esteemed athletes and other notable writers.
Upon retirement, he filled his time gardening in his backyard oasis. Taking pride in each bloom and enjoying the fruit of his labor. It was during this time when a request was made to cover a local boxing match that Jim took to a new passion for promoting the best of the best in local boxing. His altruistic nature really shined through when he created the website Sportofboxing.com posting the latest events, schedules and highlighting individuals in the boxing community.
Jim will forever be in our hearts and he will be dearly missed.
