TURTLE LAKE, Wis. — Donna Mae Hunt (Abel) passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. A memorial service will be held at a later date with a private family burial at Fairview Cemetery.
Donna was born Sept. 7, 1960, the daughter of Walter and Carolyn (Piltz) Abel. Donna received her education at Welcome High School in Welcome, Minn., graduating with the class of 1979. While in school she was active in band and marching band. In her early years Donna grew up on a farm south of Welcome. There, she enjoyed helping with the daily routine of farm work. Helping her father and brother with chores, tending to the all the farm animals. After graduation Donna attended Rochester Community and Technical College, getting a certificate in child care and development. Donna worked in many occupations in which she was a caregiver and most recently working for Endeavors adult development center medical van supporting people with disabilities. Later in life Donna made her home in Amery, Wis., and most recently, had moved to Turtle Lake, Wis. Donna enjoyed spending time with her son, Tyler, and enjoying the many wonderful activities that Wisconsin had to offer. She enjoyed snowmobiling, ice fishing with friends and family, and sharing time together on day trips enjoying scenery along the way. You would never find a friend more loyal or a heart more generous than Donna's. She had many friends and family who will miss her smile and infectious laughter. Left to cherish her memory include her son, Tyler Hunt of River Falls, Wis.; former spouse, Bill Hunt of Amery, Wis.; brother, Greg (Mary) Abel of Fairmont, Minn.; foster brother, Boyd (Cindy) Schuler of Charleston, S.C.; nephews, Caleb (Aimee) Abel of Fairmont, Minn., Jon Abel (Melany Bjorkman) of Rochester, Minn., Isaac (Jayme) Abel of Fairmont, Minn., Ben Abel of Lincoln, Neb.; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Carolyn Abel; uncles, Irv Abel, John Riegel, Bill Koons, Joseph Altman, Edwin Abel and Howard Abel; aunts, Faye Abel, Sue Abel, and Rita Abel; and cousins, Mike Abel, Jeff Abel and Larry Handevidt.
