Berry W. Cooper, 87, passed away early Tuesday morning, Dec. 18, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend of complications from a recent illness. He was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Anderson, the son of Berry W. and Lillian (Potter) Cooper. He married Marcia Tudor on June 25, 1949, in Kokomo, and she preceded him in death Feb. 16, 1996.

He lived most of his adult life in Kokomo. He attended high school at Kentucky Military Institute, and attended Austin College in Texas . He was an Army MP in England in World War II, and managed German POWs. In the 1950s, he served on the board of directors of the Citizens Bank in Greenfield. His career was in accounting and he managed the accounting department at Delco Radio in Kokomo.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Howard Lodge #93 F.&A.M, B. P. O. Elks Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Kokomo Shrine Club, American Legion, and the Kokomo Country Club. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an achievement he valued highly.

His interests included photography, fishing and model railroads. In later years, he enjoyed bird watching and flower gardening. His life-long passions were golfing and boating.

Mr. Cooper is survived by two sons, Scott Cooper, Indianapolis, and Thomas Cooper and his wife, Alice, Granger; two grandchildren, Lillian Cooper and Benjamin Cooper; and one sister, Janyce Riedel, Scottsdale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Berry W. Cooper III.

A memorial service celebrating Berry's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Jerry VanAuken officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the VFW Military Rites Team.
