Lt. Col. Robert Dean Reid, 89, died December 24, 2021. His memorial service was May, 26, 2022 at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Bob was born March 31, 1932 in Oakland, NE to James Franklin and Wilma Lee (McCord) Reid. The family later moved to South Sioux City, NE where he attended school and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1950. He attended Wayne State College for two years and then served in the US Navy from 1952-1956. After discharge her continued his education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln until reentering the service and serving with the US Air Force from 1958-1980.
In 1959 Bob was commissioned a 2nd Lt. with an aeronautical rating of navigator. His tours of duty (long and short) include bases in Maine, California, North Dakota, Florida, Philippine Islands, Thailand (from which he flew the "friendly skies" of Viet Nam). Washington, Guam, Japan, Spain and Kansas. Bob retired in 1980 with 28 years of service, 4 years in the Navy and 24 years in the Air Force.
Returning to Washington state, Bob worked at several part time jobs until 1994. His spare time was filled with grandchildren's activities, weekend motor cycle rides and short vacations.
Bob married Suzanne Mae Cedarquist November 18, 1959, they had 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Roland Reid and sister-in-law Bernadine Reid
