Nellie L. Coup, 92, Talmage, died Tuesday, October 27, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Abilene. She was born Sept. 12, 1906, at Byron, Okla., the daughter of Alexander J. and Nora (Mahan) Barclay. As a child she moved to the Manchester community and attended Manchester schools. On Dec. 2, 1931, she was married to Harry Coup. The early years of their marriage were spent farming in the Manchester and Talmage areas. They moved to Talmage in 1948. Mrs. Coup drove a school bus for the Talmage school for serveral years. She was a member of the Talmage United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Dickinson County Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, July 23, 2975; two sisters, Gladys Taylor and Pearl Gates; and two brothers, Floyd and Chester Barclay. Survivors include one daughter, Judy Shetter of Topeka; one son, Max Coup of McPherson; one sister, Iva Coup of Talmage; one brother, George Barclay of Abilene; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Danner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Lane officiating. Interment will be in Prairiedale cemetery, Talmage.
