Janet Lucile Henderson passed away peacefully, at age 75, on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Murrieta, California with her loving eternal companion, Paul, at her bedside. She was born July 10, 1946, the only child of John and June Wilson of Pasadena, California.
In her youth, she was a competitive roller skate dancer and graduated from John Muir High School in 1964. She studied Dental Assisting at Pasadena City College and spent three years working at a local dentist's office. Janet eventually met Paul L. Henderson who had recently moved to the area after graduating from Utah State and began working as an engineer for the Naval Ordnance Test Station. They quickly fell in love and were married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1969.
She became the mother of two sons, Mark, who is autistic, and Kevin. She was an extremely devoted mother with the extra challenge of raising a son in special education at a time when much less was understood about autism. Janet had many friends from college, church, and in the special-education community.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She had several callings including cultural refinement leader in the Relief Society where she would devote many hours per week working on her lessons.
Janet will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sweetheart of 52 years, Paul L. Henderson, and their sons Mark and Kevin (Amber), and their grandchildren Cole, Cade, Clark, and Camden. She was preceded in death by her father John Robert Wilson and June Lucile Wilson (Hansen).
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Dec 29, 3-5 PM at the Murrieta Valley Funeral Home, 24651 Washington Avenue, Murrieta CA. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Dec 30, 11 AM at Murrieta Valley Cemetery District (Laurel Cemetery), 42800 Ivy Street, Murrieta, CA followed by a lunch reception for family and friends at the Henderson home.
