Mr. Scott passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. He was born on January 14, 1924 in Alexander City to J.J. Scott and Maggie Moore Scott. He attended Alexander City Schools where he was a member of the football and baseball teams. After high school he enlisted and served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Radioman for 3 years during World War II. Upon discharge, he returned to Alexander City to begin a 40+ year career in accounting with Russell Corp. He was an active and devoted member of Alexander City First United Methodist Church for over 75 years. He spent many happy years as a member of the "Russell Rats" exercise group.
Left to cherish are his wife of 77 years, Jacquelyn Scott of Alexander City; daughters, Jacque Martin (Steve) of Tallassee, Jeanne Patterson (David) of Tuscaloosa, and Jan Rhodes (Jimmy) of Milton, FL; sons, J. David Scott of Alexander City and Jay Scott (Nancy) of Montgomery; sisters, Carolyn S. Farrow of Huntsville and Nelda Funkhouser of Fairfax, VA.
He was a lively, joke loving "Pop" to his nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and was a model of kindness, honor, and appreciation to all who knew him.
