Mrs. Frances Moody Jones passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at her residence. She was born on September 22, 1930, in Calhoun, GA and lived in Calhoun during her formative years. She was the daughter of the late Charles Ernest Moody and Fannie Brownlee Moody. She was also predeceased by her husband, H. I. "Ish" Jones, a brother, Charles Brownlee Moody, and a sister, Virginia Moody Worth.

Mrs. Jones graduated from Calhoun High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Music and Religion from LaGrange College in 1951. She received a Master of Science degree in music education from the University of Georgia.

Mrs. Jones spent her career in music and education. After college, she taught school in Calhoun then returned to LaGrange College to be a professor of music for four years. She then taught music and second grade in several school systems in northwest Georgia, taking off several years to be a fulltime mother and homemaker which she cherished.

Music was her passion, and she was blessed with perfect pitch and the ability to play music by ear. Mrs. Jones taught private piano lessons for many years, hosting recitals in her living room at home. She was a church organist at Westminster Presbyterian Church in the 1960's and at Lindale United Methodist Church in the 1970's. During this time, she played the organ for many weddings as well. After retiring from being a fulltime church organist, she enjoyed being a choir member and substitute organist. She was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church and the Prayer and Praise Sunday School Class.

In retirement, she enjoyed being a member of the Georgia Mountain Music Association, Rome Music Lovers Club, Rome Floyd County Retired Educators, and Daughters of Berry which she served as president. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband on various trips related to his activities.

Survivors include a son, Harold Jones, Silver Creek; two daughters, Joy Jones Neal (Kennard), and Jane Jones Block (Alan), both of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Frances Neal Travis (James), Charlottesville, VA, and John Neal, New York, NY; beloved nieces, nephews, and special friends.
