Christy Franklin was born March 24, 1981, to Robert Franklin Sr. and Diane Willis. She was the baby girl of Robert and Diane's children together.
Christy accepted Christ at the age of five at First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Nathaniel Hull, SR. She later decided to renew her relationship with Christ and united with Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jarvis Smith, where she remained until her passing.
Christy received her education in the Helena-West Helena School District. She held various jobs and enjoyed life to the fullest. As time passed along, she became a mother to Shania Renee Stephens, and then 14 years later, she had a bouncing boy, Lawrence Brown Jr. Her children were the greatest gifts of her life.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Oretha Franklin, and a brother, Reginald Nathan. She was also preceded in death by both grandmothers, Mozella Gilcrest Peterson and Ruby Lee Franklin, grandfathers, David Lee Willis and Robert L Smith, two uncles, Melvin James Peterson and Lorenzo Willis, a nephew, Bryant Kristopher Franklin, a very close friend, whom she shared a child with, Lawrence Brown, Sr., close friends, Monica Roddy, and Nashae Williams whom she missed very much.
