She rededicated her life to the Lord in the 1970s after having grown up in the Baptist church. She had an encounter with the Lord in the kitchen of her home one morning and in it she experienced the love of the Lord. So much so, she would spend the rest of her life sharing it. She is somewhere in heaven now learning the full reach and impact of that sincere, burning desire to share the good news and to see people commit and re-commit their lives to Jesus. Maybe you remember a conversation she had with you over the years. If she began with, "You see, when God made man…", us kids learned the poor soul she was talking to was locked in for the next hour or so while she told of God's great love for His mankind.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, COL (Retired) Haspard R. Murphy, Sr., and twelve siblings: Mr. Albert Jennings, Sr., Mr. Willie Jennings, Jr., Mrs. Grace Jennings Johnson, Mr. Robert Jennings, Sr., Mr. Samuel Jennings, Sr., Mr. James Jennings, Sr., Mrs. Mary Jennings Seay, Mrs. Dorothy Jennings Bostic, Mr. Melvin Jennings, Mr. Edward Jennings, Sr., Mr. Raymond Jennings, and Mr. Clarence Jennings.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Gloria Ann Blount and family, and many, many kind and doting nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Arnao and family, and her four children - Keith D. Murphy, Dr. Lisa M. Anderson and her husband of 30 years COL (Retired) Thomas R. Anderson, Terryne F. Murphy and her son, Brandon J. Murphy, and LTC (Retired) Haspard R. Murphy, Jr. and his two sons, Haspard Luke Murphy, Robin Jan Murphy. We can never repay her, and we will sorely miss her.
