James D. Shook, 83 of Symsonia, KY died on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY.
Born Wednesday, August 10, 1938 in Marshall, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Carmen Shook and the late Zinnie (Hollifield) Lyle.
He was a retired mechanic and had earned the Master Chevy Technician award while working in Chicago. He loved his horses and was always wearing his blue jeans and denim. He attended Free Spirit Biker Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Thomasson) Shook of Benton, KY; sons, Tim Shook wife Tracie of Boaz, KY, Frank Shook wife Linda of Mayfield, KY, William Shook of Symsonia, KY; brother, Jack Shook of NC; sister, Clarine Cody of IL; grandchildren, Paige Richeal, Kendall Shook, Drake Shook, Brianna Shook, Rayburn Shook, Reed Shook; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Dennis Lawrence officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Collier Funeral Home.
