Wayne A. Miller, age 92 of Greenwood went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2021. He was born on November 4, 1929 in Glencoe, Pennsylvania.

He married Bessie Foster on March 24, 1951 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death in 2015. Wayne is survived by sons, James (Barbara) Miller of Middleton, Ohio, Allen (Deborah) Miller of Greenwood and David (Tracy) Miller of Burlington; a daughter, Annette (Kevin) Lacy of Bargersville; and daughter-in-law, Judy Miller of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (Homer) Kreinbrook of Berlin, Pennsylvania, Elaine (Steve) Jacobs of Fayetteville, New York and Sharon Webber of Debary, Florida. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Miller; two brothers, James and Dale Ludy and his parents, James and Emma Ludy.

Wayne served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Senior Industrial Engineer at Allison Transmission; retiring in 1987. He was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ for over 70 years. He served on many committees and was a part of several mission trips with the church. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and later he was a valuable volunteer at the Greenwood Food Pantry (Salvation Army, Greenwood), helping secure its current location. WRTV6 honored him with their annual Leadership Award for his work with the pantry. He volunteered there over 15 years and was forced into "early" retirement due to COVID shut-downs.

Wayne truly loved and treasured his family and was proud of each one of them. Whether you were born a Miller or married into the family, he loved you fiercely. He was an example to many of what is it is like to behold the "Fruit of the Spirit". He was an amazing soul filled with love, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. He was always there to lend a helping hand: fixing things, building things, whatever was needed. He was always available to share wisdom, or to offer advice and support. He loved to travel and could tell you what you would find at exits across the country and which roads/highways were the best route. He was our original GPS! His greatest love was to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From Glencoe to Greenwood throughout his service with the church and other volunteer activities, his love of his Lord and Savior was always a guiding light. He not only helped his own family but he has helped thousands of families and certainly lived a rich life.

He will be missed by so many, but we rejoice that he was reunited with loved ones and that we will one day see him again when we are called home.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation. Wayne will be laid to rest with full military honors next to his beloved wife.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ - 7031 South East Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
