John Albert Wood, 80 passed away on December 27, 2021 at Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA.

He was born in Elizabeth City, VA which is now known as Hampton,VA and he lived there most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Johnnie Myers and Virginia Wood Becker; his first wife and the mother of his children, Alice Faye Lamm; his son, Johnny Wood; his brother, Russell Myers; and a grandchild.

He is survived by his daughters, Patty Burley of Evington, VA, Tracey Maggio and Linda Green of Hampton, VA; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Oaks, Arline Bowman, and Kristine Brouillard, of Florida, Debbie Becker and Cathy Briggs of Michigan; brother, Patrick Becker of Michigan; former spouse, Lenora Wesley and her daughter of Hampton,VA as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a commercial fisherman for most of his life and made his living crabbing, fishing and oystering out of the Chesapeake Bay.

In 2018, he moved to Parkersburg, WV where he resided with his granddaughter, and great grandson. He loved watching old westerns and wrestling, listening to country music, site seeing, fishing, and spending time with his great grandson.
Following Papa's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services planned.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, WV or on the website to assist the family with expenses.

The family would like to thank Westwood Center, MSA Hospice (Bluefield, VA) and Riverside Regional Medical Center (Newport News, VA) for the care and support they provided.
