Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Goodgion and Tommie Nix. He is survived by his wife, Jane, and their children Laurie (David) Dodd and Carol White; his grandsons Daniel (Katie) and James (Kristen) and 6 great grandchildren.
Tom joined the US Army in 1956 and served for two years before serving in the reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1962. He served the City of Garland as a police officer from 1958 to 1963 and spent the remainder of his career as a probation officer for Dallas County until his retirement in 1990.
The Tom White family joined First Christian Church on February 13, 1966, where they have been lifelong members. He taught Sunday School for 26 years and served as a deacon, elder and chairman of the board for multiple terms, one of which included the addition of the current fellowship hall and surrounding improvements.
