Mrs. Thelma M. Sampson, 63, of 83 Dague Rd., Sanford, died Friday Aug. 5, in the Midland Hospital Center after a long illness. Born in Denver, Colo., Sept. 4, 1924, she moved to Sanford in 1944. Mrs. Sampson was a contract mail carrier for the Sanford Post Office for 28 years until retiring in 1983. The former Thelma Milton, she was married to Ralph Sampson April 22, 1944, in Idaho Springs, Colo.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Richard of Coleman and Ralph Jr. of Sanford; 2 daughters, Carol Weaver of Bay City and Mrs. Dan (Shirley) Tuley of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one brother, John of Lakewood, Colol; 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward in 1943 and Warren in 1986 and a sister, Mary in 1944.
Rites were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Barve officiated and burial was in the McClure Cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 8-10/1988 Column – 3 Page – 2.
