In August of 1951, she married her true love, Hugh Martin and together they had three children.
Celia's career began at Martin General Hospital in Williamston where she was a lab technician for many years. She later co-owned a store called Country Crafts downtown with her friend, Myra Bowen. She was a dedicated employee at the Martin County Department of Aging and took pride in helping her local community. Outside of her career, Celia was a gifted artist with a natural aptitude for a variety of creative pursuits. Her passions included flower arranging, sewing, baking, painting and decorating, along with doting on her beloved grandchildren. Celia was a member of the Woman's Club and many other community organizations she volunteered with. She was a longstanding and devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church, which she truly treasured. Celia was a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister and aunt.
