Doris E. (Sphar) Jackson, 87, of Pana passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Heritage Health—Pana. She was born December 17, 1934 in Pana, to the late John Orville & Theresa (Milligan) Sphar. She married Bernard Jackson on March 25, 1983 and he survives in Pana.
Doris had worked for Imperial Bondware, Sugar Creek Creamery, Mallory's and as a telephone operator. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, writing children's stories, telling stories & singing and wrote her own songs. She was an avid watcher of the St. Louis Cardinals, Illinois basketball and her grandchildren's sporting events. She loved her grandchildren very much. Everyone will remember her as a sweet lady.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Dave Sullivan (significant other, Kim Fox), Pana, IL and Bill (Nancy) Sullivan, Brighton, MO; step-children: Barb Wilcox; Bill Jackson, Decatur, IL and Sherry (Chris) Butkauskas, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Shane (Sabrina) Sullivan, Springfield, MO; Brandi (Jared) Nelson, Springfield, MO; Cody Sullivan, Springfield, MO; Tawnya (Bink) Stout, Vandalia, IL; Amy Sullivan Moore, Nokomis, IL; Whitney (Dustin) Plummer, Missouri; Courtney Cummings, Taylorville, IL; Erin Thompson; Jason Wilcox, Chet Wilcox, Craig Johnson, Aaron Jackson; Nathan (Kendra) Butkauskas, St. Anthony, IN; Madyson Butkauskas, Indianapolis, IN; Nick Kennedy & Baily Kennedy; 23 great grandchildren with one on the way; sisters: Joyce Janssen & Betty Lynch and sisters-in-law: Liz Sphar & Helen (Dick) Hise. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Orville Sphar & step son, Brock Jackson.
Funeral services for Doris will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Altman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Memorials in Doris' honor may be made to the American Lung Association and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
