Memorials: Directed to the family

Melissa Lynn Rose, one of two daughters of Michael Dennis Rose and Kristine Lynn (Jager) Rose was born on April 17, 1983 in Council Bluffs, IA. She passed away on December 30, 2021 at Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs. Melissa grew up in Carson and graduated from Riverside with the Class of 2001. Following graduation she attended Iowa Western and Buena Vista University. She worked as an accounting manager for Data Power for the last 15 years.

Melissa enjoyed going camping with her family & friends, loving on her dogs, and spending time with her horses. Most of all she loved her family - especially spoiling her niece, Nevada, and nephew, Hunter. She loved encouraging Earl to race, being a moto-mom to all the dirt bike racing kids, and cheering on her cousins at figure 8 races. She relished moments she could pick on her "older sister" Nicole. Melissa loved fiercely and was always there for her family or friends. She was always up for a trip - Disney World with family, Motorcycle rides with family or friends, girls' weekends in Vegas, Texas treks, or Colorado adventures. The yearly "Auntie Mel" trips to build-a-bear with all her nieces were a much anticipated event and became more expensive every year. Mel never met a baby she didn't love unconditionally or steal a snuggle from, and if you knew her she loved your kids like her own. Her genuine smile and giggle could cure any bad day, but it was really amazing how she made people feel like the most important person in the world when you were with her. Mel was a big supporter and foster mom for Northern Plains Boxer Rescue. She was the most devoted and loyal person, who would do anything for her family.

Melissa is preceded in death by her father, Michael; maternal grandfather, Donald Jager; paternal grandfather, Frank Rose; uncle, Donald Jager Jr.

Melissa is survived by her mother, Kris Rose (Quincy Stephens); sister, Nicole Shady (Travis, Hunter, Nevada); brother, Terry Stephens; four step-sisters; loving companion, Earl Schaffer (& his children Jordan, Cody); maternal grandmother, Beverly Jager; paternal grandmother, Dixie Rose; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of many special friends.
