Son of William L Burns, Jr. and Theresa (Mikolic) Burns. He served in the U.S Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service, he met and married Mary Ford. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary (Ford) Burns; two sons, William IV "Billy" (Melinda) Burns and Matthew (Michelle) Burns; four grandchildren, Samantha and William (Will) Burns, V, Ethan and Elise Burns; and two sisters, Patricia (Bill) Pedersen and Nora (John) Primiano.
