JOEL BARNES known to some as "Preacher", 61, was born February 2, 1959 in Sulphur, Louisiana to the late Jim and Rose (Darby) Barnes.
A native of Sulphur, he resided in Lake Charles where he was a member of Mossville Truth Tabernacle.
Joel was a great singer and would give the shirt off his back. He loved his grandbabies. He departed this life Saturday, December 10, 2021 in Lake Charles.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Shirley Mae Barnes; daughters, Sophia (Charles) Daniels and Tameeka Harris; one son, Michael (Ashonta) Rougeaux, Sr.; three stepsons, James "Jimmy" (Ana) Lewis III, Walter Lewis, Sr., and Henry Lewis, Sr.; two step daughters, Angela Simien and Pamela Lewis; thirty- three grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; godchild, Glacoyia Hallaustin, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles Barnes and Michael Darby.
His visitation will be Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 11:00AM with his funeral following at 1:00PM, at Macedonia Church of God in Christ, Pastor Roosevelt Trapp. Rev. Calvin Peco will officiate.
