Boise, Idaho – James Francis Greene was born April 27, 1948 in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Frank and Theresa (Dansdill) Greene. He graduated from Tri County High School, Thornburg, Iowa in 1966. He graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, May of 1994. Jim entered the Air Force in June 1969 and retired in June 1993. He served all over the world and was awarded several medals to include the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with 3 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 oak leaf clusters, USAF Noncommissioned Officer Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon and, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm. He also received Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served 2 Aug 90 through 30 Jun 93 in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Jim loved the Air Force and was proud to have served his country.
Jim died on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Luke's Meridian Hospital, Meridian, Idaho at the age of 73 years.
Jim was married to Carol Van Dee for 13 years. This union bore three sons, James of Black Hawk, South Dakota, Craig (Malinda) of Yucaipa, California, and Matt (Jenny) of Rapid City, South Dakota. Jim married Janet (Adcock) Boss on September 9, 2004 and had celebrated 17 years of marital bliss. Jim was step-father to Christy (Reed) Henderson, Mark (Julie) Johnson, and Mike (Andre') Johnson. Jim is survived by 6 children, 10 grandchildren, Kayla Hunt, Hunter Johnson, Tucker Johnson, Millie Johnson, Brennan Johnson, Lexi Johnson, Kaitlyn Greene, William Greene, Meadow Greene, and Owen Greene. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; Dawson, Kelsoe, Seedo, and Apollo Henderson; and Archer Hunt, Belle Kalin, Remi Johnson, and Harper Johnson.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), an a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 63.
His hobbies were reading and spending time with family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Jim's wishes were to be cremated and interred with his beloved wife Janet. There will be a service at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery in May.
