Britton, SD: Kathleen "Kate" Aadland-Wojcik passed away Friday, December 25, 2021 at Four Seasons of Forman, at the of 70.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, from 5 -7 p.m. with the prayer service starting at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend. There will be no formal funeral or internment at this time. Many years ago Kathleen chose to donate her body to University of North Dakota for research to help find a cure for Parkinson's, so in the event her family ever faced this disease, there may be hope for a cure. Internment of her cremains will take place when she is returned to her family at a later time.

Kathleen Ann was born to Mabel & Ingvald (Ed) Aadland on March 13, 1951 in Britton, SD. She grew up on the farm NE of Kidder, where her love of cats evolved. Her early educational years were spent attending school in Kidder, SD and then high school; where she was part of the last graduating class of Kidder High School in 1969. Kathleen completed her first degree at South Dakota State University and later completed many classes through Northern State University and the University of Illinois to obtain her PHD in history.

She was united in marriage to Gary Nehlich in Britton. They had a daughter, Mabel Ann. In later years she married Capt. Thomas F. Wojcik and after they parted ways, she focused on her career and accomplishing the goals she set out for herself in life. She spent time enlisted in the United States Airforce and upon discharge furthered her career working at the Pentagon and for the State Department as an army intelligence analyst. In the early 1990's she decided it was time to move home as her parent's health was declining. Upon returning to South Dakota, Kathleen utilized a portion of her education as a counselor for the McLaughlin, SD School district along with Standing Rock Schools, in Fort Yates, ND, where she found her love for grant writing. As that love took shape she accomplished many different projects to help communities in North Dakota and South Dakota. One for which her name will live on forever is the Maddock Business & Technology Center. She was very proud of accomplishing this vision and enjoyed her years living in Maddock, ND while working to complete this project.

After returning to Britton she continued her grant writing by helping local SD and ND fire departments obtain new equipment. Along with helping these local fire departments, she wrote and obtained a grant to help the local museum in Britton.

As her love for writing continued to challenge her, she set a goal to write and publish a book. So along with a dear young friend Jeremy Hone, a story was written and created called; Time and Again: The Round Table Reincarnated. Their book was officially published on November 20, 2014. She was tremendously proud to be a published author.

When her Parkinson's finally became too difficult and she needed a little extra care, she entered a care facility. During her stay she thrived until the last 6 weeks of life, when her Parkinson's was just too much for her body.

She passed peacefully on Christmas day with a smirk on her face; no more pain and no more suffering. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Mabel "Ann" (Kevin) Stiegelmeier, of Britton, SD. Three very special grandchildren; Allison (Nathan) Stiegelmeier, of Aberdeen SD. Karsten (Hailey) Stiegelmeier, of Britton SD, and Izabella "Buzy" Stiegelmeier, of Britton, SD. Along with twin great granddaughters Alexa & Peyton of Aberdeen, SD, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister-in-law, Georgia Aaland, of Scottsdale, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Donald Aadland) and an infant son.

Her arrangements have been entrusted to the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton, SD
