Born in Macon in 1945, Barbara was a lifelong resident of Perry. She was a graduate of Perry High School and went on to complete college courses as well as a program of medical transcription. Her career years were spent at Robins Air Force Base, from which she retired as Electronics Division Operations Office Chief. An avid reader, she also enjoyed (and was very good at) Sudoku, Words with Friends, and crossword puzzles.

Her family will miss her deeply, but all are grateful for the 76 years of her life. Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Lee Cross; and her son, Lee Cross Jr. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Edward James May and Annie Ella May; her half-brother, Ernest Foster; and half-sister, Effie Knickerbocker; as well as her brother, Franklin May; and sisters, Evelyn Cox, Juanita Mason, and Vera McDonald.

She is survived by her beloved son, David (Angie) of Byron; her sisters, Opal David (Don), Shirley Reece (Floyd), and Faye Scott; and her brother, Larry May (June). She also leaves behind eight nephews, three nieces, seven great nephews, four great nieces, one great-great nephew and four great-great nieces.
