Robert Ernest McCoy, 78, of Williamson, WV, passed away following a brief illness on December 21, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY.
Born December 23, 1942, in Williamson, WV he was a son of the late Robert Akers McCoy and Ruth Wright McCoy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale McCoy, a sister-in-law, Jackie McCoy and a niece, Elissa McCoy.
A member of the Letter Carriers Union, Robert was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service retiring after 34 years of dedicated service. After retiring from the postal service, he worked at the Walmart Superstore in South Williamson, KY and later transferred to the Sam's Club in Panama City, FL following his move there several years ago.
Robert was a member of the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling and he especially enjoyed cruises. He loved and enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Robert will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered always.
Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. McCoy, II and Kristie McCoy of Williamson; three grandchildren, Daylan, Dyllon and Jayden McCoy, his former wife, Sheila McCoy, his longtime companion and her daughter, Sue Hamilton and Leah Hamilton.
Visitation is from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, December 27, 2021, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the mortuary.
Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
