MARQUETTE, MI – Margaret Blyth Johnston Henderson, age 83, of Marquette, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, December 10, 2021, at her home.
Born March 27, 1938, in Cowdenbeath Fife, Scotland, a daughter of Alexander and Margaret (Waddell) Reid, Margaret was raised in Scotland. On March 9, 1955, Margaret was united in marriage to Alister Henderson and together the couple set about establishing a home and raising a family which would include three children. In 1960, the family came to the United States, settling in the Milwaukee area. Due to Alister being employed with the Allis-Chalmers Company, the couple was fortunate to travel the world. Throughout her working career, Margaret was able to be employed as a cosmetologist, property manager, and work for the Shriners hospital. Both Margaret and Alister loved traveling and golfing. Margaret also loved her lucky winning streaks at the casino. She enjoyed life and often remarked that she lived it to the fullest. Margaret loved to sing and was a member of the local Sunshine Girls who often entertained residents at the local nursing homes. However, her greatest fulfillment and treasured moments came from spending time with her family and following their activities.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alister; her children, Margaret (David Lyons) Henderson of Edgerton, WI, Elizabeth DeRosie and Al (Kelly) Henderson both of Marquette; her grandchildren, Korina Ebel, Reid DeRosie, Nick Sanders, Alister Henderson, Lexi Henderson; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Moira Jordan and brother, William Reid both of Scotland. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be planned in the future.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Shriners Children's Hospital (donate.lovetotherescue.org).
