KATHRYN (KATIE) WADE ROBERTS of Friendswood, Texas, was born on February 12, 1924, in Winthrop, Arkansas and passed away December 14, 2007 in Houston. Preceded in death by her daughter, Holly; husband of over 50 years Burt. She is survived by her son, Wade Roberts of Chicago; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Jim Fandal, their children, granddaughters and great granddaughters, of Denver, Colorado, area; and niece Carol Daniels, her daughters, son-in-laws, and grandchildren of the Sugarland area. A graduate of San Jacinto High School, Katie attended business collage in Houston and worked for a number of years at Hughes Tool Company, ending her career in the executive offices there. She was a committed supporter of the Girl Scouts of America, serving in many roles within the organization even after her daughter had gone on to other interests. Her love of nature enhanced participation with the scouts and served as inspiration to many young women in the Houston and Pearland scout organization. A talented seamstress from youth, she made her own wedding dress, in more recent years she focused on other needlework and became adept at creating beautiful quilts which she shared with many family members and friends. Katie also loved sharing the many garden treasures she enjoyed over the years, telling each recipient not to say thank you or they wouldn't grow. Funeral services will be held at 10AM Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Chapel of Faith, Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas. Graveside services and interment will be conducted 1PM. Brookside Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Bay Area SPCA, 3000 Ave. R., League, Texas, 77518 or the charity of your choice in her memory.
