Born on March 27, 1959, in Northridge, California, Karen was the daughter of the late Walter and Joyce (Baum) Joyce.
She attended Herkimer schools and was a graduate from Herkimer High School with the Class of 1977.
For over twenty-one years, Karen has been employed as an Inventory Clerk with Remington Arms in Ilion.
Karen held a variety of interests and in her younger years was an avid bowler. She was also a very skilled pool shark, primarily 8 and 9 ball, along with being a member of the American Poolplayer's Association. She was also an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and part of the Herkimer County Bills Backers.
Nothing gave Karen more joy than being surrounded by family and friends. She would do anything for anyone and was always outgoing, friendly and a social butterfly. She was charitable and giving and would often participate in cancer awareness events. She was also an ardent supporter of the Herkimer County Humane Society where at one time she held a position on the board and was a volunteer.
Karen is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Nicole and Christopher Roberts of Schuyler and Jaclyn Elthorp of Frankfort; her grandsons, Dakota McCaw and Justin Roberts; her devoted companion of over ten years, James "Jim" Butler of Herkimer; her sister, Kimberly Joyce of Syracuse; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Debbie Joyce of Syracuse; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends, with special mention of Chris Wilson and Curt Lane and the rest of the Wilson family, along with members of the Elthorp family, for their constant love and concern.
