David Roy Simpson, Jr., 62, of Prattville, Alabama, passed from this world to his heavenly home after a battle with cancer. He died at his home with his loved ones in attendance on December 26, 2021.
David was preceded in death by his father, David Roy Simpson, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Simpson; children, David Roy Simpson III (Melanie), Mathew James Simpson (Mary Beth), Daniel Ross Simpson and Rachel Ann Simpson and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Sarah Ann Simpson; brother, Robin Simpson (Joy); sister, Carol Fowler (Scott) and many nieces and nephews.
David was born in Okinawa, Japan and graduated from Troy University at Montgomery with a bachelor's degree in Business and he also graduated from Faulkner University with a Master's degree in Secondary Education. He served in the Army National Guard from 1978 until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the 151st Army National Band and served in the 62nd Troup Command. He married his high school sweetheart in 1978, Cheryl Howell. He loved genealogy, playing the trumpet and guitar, hiking, camping and spending time with his family. David was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for David will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Ridouts Prattville Chapel with the visitation from 11:00 – 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery in White City. Rev. Lamar Lyon will officiate and Richard Harrison will provide the music. Serving as pallbearers will be David Kevin Simpson, Matthew Smith, Parker Morrell, Scott Arendsen, Steve Arendsen and Andrew Marsh.
