On November 26, 1952, he was united in marriage to Maxine McClanahan, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
His father preceded him in death.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Maxine, of the home; a son, Doug Dotson, and his wife, Dwanza, of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, Gayle Crancer, and her husband, Jerry, of Eureka, Missouri, and Carman West, of Lebanon, Missouri; six granddaughters, Christi Owens, Amy DiBlasi, Brandy Jones, Amber Owens, Virginia Vernon, and Angie West; nine great-grandchildren; his mother, Hazel Dotson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Robert Dotson, and his wife, Judy, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Lois Smith, and her husband, Gilbert, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon community and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1951. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from July 11, 1951 until June 23, 1952. After he and Maxine were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their family. Paul was employed as an officer by the Lebanon Police Department for ten years from 1953 until 1963, and then worked as a truck driver for local boat factories for several years.
Paul had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Community Baptist Church.
He liked being outdoors where some of his favorite activities included fishing, hunting, gardening, and going on float trips with his granddaughters. He particularly enjoyed having barbecues and fish fries for his family and friends. He also liked bluegrass music and photography. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments, and will cherish the memories he created for his family and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Shaddy Cemetery, near Grovespring, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
