OYCE ANN (LESTER) SYKES, 78 of Westerville, OH, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Tuesday, December 21,2021 at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital following brief illness.
Born in Big Rock, Va. on September 16, 1943. She was the daughter of the late James and Betty (Lee) Lester.
She loved in her own way as mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved taking care of her canine friend, Cassie. She was a caregiver and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling, music, and theatre.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father James Lester, her mother Betty (Lee) Lester, male companion Denver Belknap, her brothers Ferrell Lester and Berlin Lester and Her sisters Liz Compton, Alpha Stiltner, Okie Owens, Julie Viers. Joyce was last surviving member of James and Betty (Lee) Lester.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Bobby (Sheryl) Sykes of New Bern, NC, Trina (Dave) England of Springfield, GA, granddaughters Ashley (Raddie) Zlatkov of Brentwood, TN, Sydney Alkire of Port Wentworth, GA , Amanda (fiancé Shane Davis) Alkire of Savannah, GA and great grandson Theodore (Teddy) Zlatkov. Her half-brother Jeffrey Lester of Slate Creek, VA. and Pamela Lester Mays of Lexington , SC.
Also, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for JOYCE ANN (LESTER) SYKES will be conducted Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 12:00P.M. at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
