Katie was a devout Christian, who believed in practicing her love of life and sharing its joy with others. She was a dedicated homemaker, who possessed a green thumb for growing flowers and plants. She loved animals and had a knack for taking in stray dogs and showering them with love. She was a member of Lake Park Christian Church.
Survivors of Katie's family include: Gerald D. Weeks, her husband of 70 years, her son, Daniel (Susan) Weeks of Valdosta, GA; daughters, Diane Wetherington of Nashville, GA, and Donna (John) Jones of Hahira, GA. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Ryan Wetherington of Valdosta, GA; Kyle (Courtney) Wetherington of Hilton Head, SC; Sally Jones of Hahira, GA and Kelly Jones of Chapel Hill, NC: a brother Edward (Sandra) Connell of Stockton, GA. Two half-brothers, Carlton Buddy (Myrtice) Connell and Eddie Connell.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Lamar and Ruth Connell, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Burton Harold (Bonnie Mae) Connell and Bennie (Mary Lou) Connell; two sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy (Arlie) Tyson and Betty Jean (Hillie) Best.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Carter Cemetery at Sardis Baptist Church in Echols County. The funeral will be officiated by Bro. Ross Cook of Valdosta, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
The Weeks family would like to especially thank the staff of Langdale Hospice for their professionalism and compassionate care. They made Katie's last days so pleasant and comfortable. Donations in her honor may be made to Hospice of South Georgia to support the Langdale Hospice House.
