Those who mean the most to us are never really gone. For in our thoughts and in our hearts their memory still lives on. Their memory is our keepsake with which we'll never part. GOD has Bobby in his keeping, we have him in our hearts.

Obituary
Bobby Denver Grimes departed from this earth on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the age of 78 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 3, 1943 in London, Kentucky to the late James "Jimmy " Grimes and Molly (Buckles) Grimes.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Grimes Sr., and Russell Grimes both of London, and sister Imogene Tyree of London.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Helen Grimes of London; two sons Robert Denver Grimes & wife Jennifer of London, and James Earl Grimes and wife Jessica of Annville, and four grandsons James Byron and Charles Robert Grimes, and Seth and Jakob Stephens.

He is also survived by brothers, Claude Grimes of Florida, Ralph Grimes of London, sisters Ada Tyree of Greenfield, Indiana, and Wanda Proffitt of Indiana, and brother Roger Grimes of London; plus a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.

Bobby was united in marriage to Mary Helen Smith on January 1, 1965. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His family is extremely proud of the sacrifices he made to serve his country.

Anyone that has ever had any contact with Bobby has seen his generous spirit and his love for people. It seemed you couldn't take him anywhere that he wouldn't know at least one person. And if by chance he walked into a room and didn't know a soul, you could guarantee he would walk out of that room with a new friend.

Bobby was an experienced heavy machine operator and could hop on any piece of equipment with ease and execute a job with precision and excellence. But his true talent and skill shined the brightest when he was with a horse. There wasn't
a horse the man couldn't break, train or ride unless he deemed it unfit by maybe having a "crooked tail"! He was dubbed the "horse whisperer" by those that witnessed his abilities.

The only thing that could surpass Bobby's love for horses was his love for his family. Bobby and Mary raised two sons (Robbie and Jamie) that he was immensely proud of. The greatest joy in his life was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a loving husband who loved to joke and tease to show his affection. He took great pride in teaching his sons life skills like how to drive a tractor, grade a driveway, or how to properly ride a horse. And as we closest to him know all too well, his way was always the best way to do anything.

And if you thought his love for his wife and sons was something special, you would have to see him with his grandsons to see that was only the tip of the iceberg. In his eyes there we were none greater than all of his grandsons – Byron, Charlie, Seth and Jakob.

While we will mourn the passing of our family hero, we do not mourn like those without hope. We are thankful for the reassurance that we will see him again one day. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and we are grateful to know that this fine man is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
