Obituary for John Robert "Bob" Schweitzer
John Robert "Bob" Schweitzer, 83, of Cynthiana, KY, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born on February 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Howard and Pearl Cotter Schweitzer. On May 6, 1961, he married Janet Lee Kremer, and his dear wife survives his passing. Bob retired after 30 years of service with Cincinnati Gas and Electric (now Duke Energy) as a gas line mechanic and inspector. A former airman in the U.S. Air Force and all-around great guy, Bob loved nothing more that enjoying the outdoors on his Harrison County acreage, being with his family, and any time he was able to canoe his beloved Licking River.
In addition to his best friend and wife of 60 years, Janet, he is survived by two sons blessed to have him as their father: Jeff (Barb) Schweitzer and Jay (Tammy) Schweitzer, both of Cynthiana; four grandchildren: Sammantha (Caleb) Reeder, Autumn (Coty) Northcutt, Randy (Todd) Puckett, and Harrison (Chloe) Schweitzer; four great grandchildren: Zane and Karson Reeder and Waylon and Carter Schweitzer; and a host of extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 107 N. Walnut Street, Cynthiana, KY 41031. The visitation will be from 10-12 pm on Monday preceding the mass at the church. Please observe all suggested COVID protocol regarding masks, distancing, and sanitizing. Interment will take place in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY, with military rites by the USAF Honor Guard from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital: 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is caring for the family.
