She was born on January 2, 1942 in Plymouth, Indiana to Helen Lucille (Platz) and Daniel Hamilton Smith. On September 3, 1961 she was married to Dean Marshall Hoover. They raised their three children, experienced the joy of becoming grandparents and great-grandparents all throughout the 50 years of marriage they shared before he passed away on January 16, 2011.
Kathy grew up in Donaldson, Indiana and she was a graduate of West Township High School in Plymouth, Indiana. She was a dependable hardworking lady and for 17 and half years she worked at Biomet in Warsaw, Indiana.
She was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Warsaw, where she enjoyed Bible study, and being a member of the quilting and knitting group. Kathy was great with her hands and had the patience and an eye for detail when it came to quilt making. She loved to make and gift quilts for her family and extended family. Kathy also enjoyed computer games and was an avid reader. She was often seen walking her beloved dogs Coco and Brandy around her neighborhood and would always smile and wave to neighbors. Kathy will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Shelia Ezeji (Syracuse, Indiana); two sons: Michael (Deborah) Hoover (Warsaw, Indiana); Gary (Lynette) Hoover (Red Lion, Pennsylvania); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Nancy Lemler (Bourbon, Indiana); Carol Hooks (Duluth, Georgia); and her brother: James Smith (Wichita, Kansas). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter and her great-grandson.
