The Star Tribune reports that Clayton Moore, who played the famous masked man of justice in the classic television series from 1949 to 1957, came to Minnesota and lived in Golden Valley for a time after the show went off the air. The famed actor's nephew, Joel Bachul, who lives in Bloomington, told the Star Tribune's Jeff Strickler that his uncle was "the Lone Ranger first and Clayton Moore second."
Buzz about Moore's time in Minnesota resurfaced with the attention surrounding the big-screen release of "The Lone Ranger" -- starring Armie Hammer as the title character and Johnny Depp as Tonto -- which opens in theaters Wednesday.
According to Clayton Moore's daughter, Dawn Moore, the actor moved to Golden Valley at the urging of wife and Dawn's mother.
Dawn Moore told Strickler that since her mother Sally's parents lived in Minnesota, she wanted her daughter to get to know them.
