Jean Stewart
November 14, 1933 - December 25, 2021
Denver, North Carolina - Jean Shirley Brown Stewart, 88, passed away in the hospital due to pulmonary fibrosis and complications from pneumonia on Saturday, December 25, 2021. Christmas Day. She was comforted by her children and two of her precious grandchildren.

Jean was born in Lincolnton, NC and grew up in Forest City, NC. In 1954 she married her surviving husband of 67 years, Paul B. Stewart, and spent the next fifty years in Charlotte where she raised her three children who survive her: Phyllis Cochran (Art) of Charlotte, Tim Stewart (Penny) of Claremont and Beth Myers, (Rob) of Denver. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Casey Unger (Ben), Sam Cochran (Jamie), Ashlee Myers (Justin), George Stewart, and Bekka Myers. Jean was proud to also be a Great-grandmother of four little ones: William, Shelby, Colt, and Audrey who she enjoyed tremendously. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Lou, Lois, and Marion.

Jean and Paul spent the last 17 years living in Denver, NC where they were active in Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed singing in the choir there, helping with church fundraising activities and getting to know the church family. Prior to living in Denver she was a very active member of Newell Presbyterian Church, where she held various leadership positions, volunteered for many tasks and projects, sang in the choir, and gave selflessly of her time and many talents over almost 40 years.

Jean was a hard worker, whether at home tending to her yard, garden, and household plants, cooking delicious meals, or keeping her household running smoothly. She had a quick wit which her friends and family enjoyed, and she genuinely cared about others and their families.

Jean worked with Paul in their business, Stewart Pump and Well Co. from the fifties until the early 2000's by keeping the books for the company. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Newell Chapter.

Many thanks and appreciation to the staff of Abernethy Laurels, where Paul and Jean have resided the last three months, for all the care and compassion they have given Jean.

There will be a funeral service for her on Wednesday, December 29, at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church in Denver at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 28, at James Funeral Home in Huntersville from 5:00-7:00 PM (Mask are required at both). The burial will be at the church cemetery following the service.

If you would like to remember Jean with a memorial, the family is asking that be sent to either Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church 4640 Webbs Chapel Church Rd., Denver NC 28037 or to Newell Presbyterian Church. PO Box 68 Newell NC 28126.
James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
