Sylvia Neshelle King Anderson Boyd was a twin born Wednesday, March 1, 1961 to Thaddis "Sonny" King and Martha Ree Cole King in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. She grew up in New Hope Community.

During her youth, she joined New Hope United Methodist Church in DeKalb, MS where she served faithfully until death in many capacities. She was a member of the Women of Zion Auxiliary which consisted of praying Women of God who prayed and interceded for others founded and led by Min. Jackie Bass.

She was a 1967 graduate of Bethlehem Headstart Center in DeKalb, MS; 1979 graduate of West Kemper High School in DeKalb, MS where she was a dynamic athlete in basketball and track as well as a member of the Marching Band. In 1983, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Development from Rust College in Holly Springs, MS.

She was employed with the Friends of Children of Mississippi Headstart Agency for thirty-one years until her retirement in 2017 having taught at Newton Headstart Center in Newton, MS and DeKalb Headstart Center in DeKalb, MS.

First, she married Lee Michael Anderson, the son of Ezra Lee Anderson and Gertia Weddington Anderson, who is a native of DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. One child, a son, was born to their union.

Secondly, she married James "Flap" Boyd, the son of Lee Mark Boyd and Lora Holliday Boyd, who was also a native of DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. No children were born to their union.

Mrs. Boyd, age 60, departed her earthly life on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Regency Hospital in Meridian, Lauderdale County, MS.

She was preceded in death by: husband, James "Flap" Boyd; mother, Martha Ree Cole King Cooley; step father, Daniel Cooley, Jr.; brother, Oscar Steele, Jr.; step sisters, Danielle Cooley Sanders and Carol Cooley Price; brother-in-law, Fred McCoy; paternal grandparents, Hince King and Odie Mathis King Porchia; maternal grandparents, Roosevelt Sam Cole and Lucille Rush Cole; special maternal aunts, Letha Cole Bourrage and Catherlean Cole Bohannon; special maternal uncle, Lavell Cole; special maternal great grandmother, Endie Rush Cole; and special maternal great aunts, Juanita Cole Paige and Lillie Cole Clark Thomas. She was accompanied in death by her brother, Kelvin Delast King Love.
