She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wayne Thomas Davis; as well as, her parents; Mamie and Don Rodemacher of Alexendria, Louisiana.
Survivors include: a son, Kenneth Wayne Davis, and his wife, Mandy residing in Northwest Arkansas; a daughter Karen Davis Vaughn and her husband, Craig of Richardson, Texas; two grandchildren, Kyle Rodemacher Vaughn and Caroline Mae Vaughn.
Marilyn graduated from Lafayette High School and Louisiana State University where she completed her B.S. degree in Home Economics Education. She was on the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation Board, served as President of the Foundation for Historical Louisiana, and a member of the National Trust. In addition, she was on the Magnolia Mound Board. Marilyn was a long time member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, and held a Board position with them. She was an active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, the Woman's Fitness Center, Inner Wheel of Baton Rouge, Rural Life, Symphony League, Fais Do Do, and served as a past President of the Ethyl's Wives Club. Marilyn served on the Board of the Broadmoor Residents Association for many years. During her time at LSU, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, where her commitment to the community was recognized with Kappa Delta's National Honor of the Pearl Award for service work. For her lifetime of dedication and giving, Marilyn received a Baton Rouge Volunteer Activist Award for community work in 1996. Her other passions included: gardening, cooking, travel, and entertaining guest at her family's home.
Funeral services will be held Dec. 30 at Broadmoor Baptist Church on Goodwood Boulevard at 11 am. Visitation prior to the service will commence at 10 am. Her burial will follow church service at Green Oaks Cemetery In lieu of flowers, Marilyn requests; Please make donations to Broadmoor Baptist Church, Friends of Magnolia Mound, or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
