James "Dale" Lilly, age 73, of Fireco, WV, gained his angel wings on Friday, 24 Dec 2021 surrounded by his loving family and the sound of Amazing Grace. At 9:35 PM, he was welcomed with open arms at Heaven's Gates by his beloved son Larry Dale Lilly and great granddaughter, Kaidence Renee Harvey.

Born on 19 Feb 1948 in Raleigh County, he was the son of the late Freda Graham Lilly Evans and Sidney A. Lilly.

Dale was a devoted father and grandfather whose most rewarding journey in life was to teach his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to hunt, fish, and farm, especially his grandson, Christopher Allan Lilly Jr. (Nugget) with whom he resided. He was an avid cockfighter and outdoorsman.

Dale was preceded in death by his son Larry Dale Lilly, great granddaughter Kaidence Renee Harvey, his father Sidney A. Lilly, his mother Freda M. Lilly, brother Mitchell "Mickey" Lilly, and a sister Judy Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory include the loving mother of all his children, Tina Jordan Lilly; four sons, David and wife Roxie of Mullens, Christopher and his companion Robin Daniel of Fireco, Sidney and wife Kayelynn of Green Spring, and Andrew and wife Sherri of Bluefield; four daughters, Trecia and husband Rick Short of Daniels, Tabatha and husband Scottie Cook of Beckley, Rebecca and husband Ernest Atkinson Jr. of Leesburg, GA, Katrina and husband Mike Stotler of Hedgesville; his late son's wife, Donna Lilly of Beckley; two sisters, Gaye and her husband Mike McClanahan of Troutman, NC, and Lea Colangelo of Melvindale, MI. Forty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other who loved him greatly and will cherish his legacy forever.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, 28 Dec 2021 at 8 PM with Rev. Eric Hutchens officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Per Dale's personal request, cremation will follow.
