Mildred Pruden Kelly, age 97, of Old Fort, went to be with the Lord, on Saturday December 25, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Lee Kelly, Sr.; one son Terry Kelly; three brothers and one sister
She was born in McDowell County to the late Fletcher and Connie Raffield Pruden on September 11, 1924. Mildred was a lifelong member of the Old Fort Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother who always put others before herself. She was known as a wonderful cook. Mildred was also a proud US Air Force veteran. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, James Scoles (Sandra), and Troy Lee Kelly, Jr.; three grandchildren, Keith Scoles (Michelle), Rev. Nick Kelly (Allison) and Jason Kelly; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Fort Church of God with Reverends Nick Kelly and Carl Overton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Piney Grove Cemetery.
