"Mrs. S.M. Thompson Passes Away - Mrs. S.M. Thompson, better known to her many friends as "Aunt Annie" passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Baxter, on Howard Ridge, after an illness of several weeks, at about 4 o'clock Friday morning. Funeral services were held and the remains laid to rest in the Howard Ridge cemetery beside those of her husband, the late Samuel M. Thompson, Friday afternoon. Mrs. Thompson was one of Ozark county's most highly respected pioneer residents and will be sadly missed by a large number of friends and relatives."
Elizabeth and her husband are buried in the Howard Ridge Cemetery, as are daughters Minnie Baxter and Elzina Kirkland and their spouses.
Her niece, Opal Rush, referred to her as "Aunt Ann".
