Jerome S. Cranke was the son of James and Dorthula Cranke, and at the age of 3 was living in Rose Hill, Virginia. During the time of the Spanish American War, Jerome enlisted as a Private in the US Army Hospital Corp on August 10, 1899 and was discharged Nov 7, 1912. Jerome a resident of Phoenix since 1912 married Clara Ridgeway in Los Angeles, CA on June 21st 1920. Mr. Cranke was a doctor who practiced Chiropractics, which his office was located at the Dixie Hotel. In 1927 he was appointed by Gov. Hunt as a member of the Board of Chiropractic Examiners. His wife Clara was also a doctor in Chiropractics, and they worked together in their business. Mr. Cranke was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. With no family, and his wife passing away before him when Mr. Cranke was cremated his ashes were not claimed. Thanks to the Missing in America Project his ashes were discovered still sitting at Greenwood Cemetery in the mortuary. Finding that he was a veteran they were claimed and were interred at the National Cemetery on Dec 29th, 2021 10am.An unclaimed veteran identified through the Missing in America Project, it is our honor to stand tall for this veteran for his service to our country.
