Rev. Rodney Taylor Smith, 76, of Thomasville, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at his home.

He was born on August 5, 1945, in Rowan Co. to the late Robert "R.C." Clinton Smith and Margie Evelyn Taylor Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Thule, Greenland and the panhandle of Florida. Rodney attended Piedmont Bible College and went on to earn his Master's Degree at Appalachian State University. He was the pastor at Faith Baptist Church and also a welding teacher at Forsyth Tech. Rodney loved duck hunting and his Yellow Labs, Gideon, Huck, and Sawyer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Tillotson.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Carol Call Smith, of the home; two sons, Rodney Craig Smith and wife, Samantha of Lexington, and Eric Heath Smith and wife, Kelly of Reidsville; two brothers, Robert Clinton Smith III and wife, Judy of Winston-Salem, and Jeff Smith of Mocksville; one sister, Sharon Kay Murphy and husband, Joe of Advance; eight grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Ashlyn Wiseman, Alesha Pilcher, Bo Dunk, Zac Smith, Jake Smith, Megan Smith, and Jared Smith; and three great-granddaughters, Ava Leonard, Blakely Pilcher, and Citra Dunk.

A service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Don Carter officiating, in the Chapel at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St. Thomasville, NC 27360.

Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2730 Peters Creek, Pkwy. Winston-Salem, NC 27127. A visitation will be held the night before, Monday, December 27, 2021, from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St. Thomasville, NC 27360.
